What is ITS?

Empire State University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) is here to make technology easy, secure, and reliable for students, faculty, and staff. We provide the tools and support needed for learning, research, and everyday campus life. Our team works behind the scenes to ensure everything from Wi-Fi to cybersecurity runs smoothly.

How ITS Helps You

ITS is made up of different teams, all working together to make technology simple and effective:

• Strategic Leadership

• • Chief Information Officer (CIO) – Leads ITS by making sure technology supports the university’s goals. The CIO focuses on innovation, security, and keeping technology up to date.

• Operational Leadership

• • Deputy CIO Team – Handles daily IT operations, ensuring smooth, secure, and efficient digital experiences for everyone. This team works on cloud services, software, operational security, user experience, and IT projects.

• Keeping Your Information Safe

• • Cybersecurity, Risk, & Resilience – Protects university data from cyber threats. This team monitors security, responds to risks, and educates the campus on staying safe online. Everyone has a role in cybersecurity, and we provide training to help keep your information secure.
• Managing ITS Services & Communication

• • ITS Business Affairs & Communications – Keeps ITS running smoothly by managing budgets, contracts, and IT-related communications. This team ensures students and staff get clear updates about tech services and projects like ITS Elevate ’28.
• Ensuring Compliance

• • IT Compliance – Makes sure the university follows important technology laws and security policies (like FERPA and GDPR). This team checks risks, conducts security audits, and helps keep ITS accountable to regulations.
