Please be advised that most proposals require a minimum of six weeks lead time, with more complex proposals needing additional time. 

All proposals must be completed in their entirety at least two weeks before the submission deadline for institutional review and approval.

 Pivot-RP is a powerful, searchable database offering access to more than $65 billion in external funding opportunities. These include funding from federal, non-federal, and international sponsors across all disciplines. With Pivot-RP, you can easily find funding that aligns with your research interests and career goals. In addition to keyword searches, you can create a personalized user profile to receive customized searches and email alerts for new opportunities.

Pivot-RP empowers you to:

Getting Started is Simple:

  1. Visit Pivot-RP.
  2. Click the “Create Account” option.
  3. Choose “Use Email Address/Create Password”.
  4. Select State University of New York – Empire State University as your institution.
  5. Use your sunyempire.edu email address to set up your account.

Maximize Your Experience with Pivot-RP Training Modules

Pivot-RP offers a range of resources to help you get the most out of the platform, including:

Claim Your Profile

By claiming your profile in Pivot-RP, you increase your chances of being matched with funding opportunities. It also makes you more discoverable to potential collaborators, opening up new possibilities for publications, conference presentations, and networking.

To claim or create your profile:

  1. Log in to Pivot-RP.
  2. In the top-right corner, click the arrow next to your name, then select “Claim profile”.
  3. If your profile is listed, select “This is me.” If it’s not listed, click "Create a Profile" to add your information.

Once your profile is created or claimed, you will receive a confirmation email.

Customizing Your Profile

Once logged in, you can update your profile by selecting your name in the top-right corner and choosing “Your Profile.” Customize your expertise, affiliations, degrees, keywords, and more. Click “Done” to save your changes.

Conducting Basic Searches

  • Search by Text: Use keywords or phrases to search across all fields and sponsors. Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and quotation marks for exact phrases will help refine your results.
  • Search by Sponsor: Browse funding opportunities by sponsor or through an alphabetical list.

 Saving Searches and Tracking Opportunities

If you find a search you’d like to revisit, simply select “Save Search” and give it a name. Your saved searches will appear under “Saved Searches” on your homepage. You can also receive weekly email digests for your saved searches with the latest opportunities.

To track specific opportunities, check the box next to an opportunity and select “Track.” These tracked opportunities will appear in your "Tracked" tab.
